Inspiring Movie
Title: Valerian and The City of Thousand Planets
Director: Luc Besson
Genre: Fantasy, Sci-fi, action, romance
IMDB rating: 6.7/10
Casts: Dane Dehaan, Clara Delevingne, Rihanna
I just watched Valerian and The City of Thousand Planets and really, that movie is gorgeous! Everything in the movie is fantastic, including the characters and its CGI, just one thing I think it is not really going well with the story, which is the romance between Valerian and Laureline. The story itself is not too complicated and the characters are not confusing. The CGI is amazing, I still can't forget the world of the aliens which is peaceful and rich of pearls. The way they portray the "unreal" world seems so real which inspires me to draw something like that one day.
It tells the story of Major Valerian and his sergeant Laureline maintaining order of the human territories in the 28th century, where earth is no more habitable. One day, Valerian dreams about a planet with low-tech humanoid race lives there peacefully without any disturbance until an apocalypse happens. Not sure about whether it is real or not, Valerian and Laureline just keep following order from Arun Filitt to work on their mission towards Alpha an ever-expanding metropolis where diverse species gather to share knowledge and culture. Until then Valerian realised that his nightmare is true and he has to compete with time to safe the universe's future, along with Laureline, they fight.
In my opinion, the movie is good. But, the story is very simple yet confusing. There are a lot of names and terms for the sci-fi world that I don't know, and somehow without the CGI, I think there is no interesting point in this movie. But, after all it is a good one to watch in the weekends.
