Watership Down (BSA 106)
WATERSHIP DOWN REVIEW
Director: Martin Rosen
Year released: 1st November 1978
Source material: Children Book
Movie rating: U rating
People complained about the rating: Most people, especially parents are complaining about the extreme murdering scene of the rabbits which is not appropriate for children to watch
Watership Down is no mere children movies as it shows several "sadistic murdering scene" of the rabbits. The rabbits are under pressure because of their home cozy land has been taken and they don't have other choices except to escape and find a better place. On the way to the new land, the rabbits encounter a lot of things. One of their friend is dead, and other horrible experiences.
We can see depression, fear, joy, and sadness in this movie which is very interesting for me. Some of the murdering scene I found it quite too "horrible" and I don't think this movie is suitable for children. However, it is enjoyable to watch for teenagers and above. This movie shows the realistic life of rabbits as if they can talk. I totally recommend this movie to watch with your family, as you can find a lot of moral values besides all the killing scenes.
