Introduction to Stop Motion
This is my first week in learning stop motion which at first I thought it is going to be quite stressful, but after seeing lots different kind of stop motion's styles and the way it is made, I think its challenging and fun, can't wait to get start on it :)
We are going to have a group work for the stop motion project which consist of 2-3 people. I'm pairing up with Megan and Chloe for this assignment. Our story is going to be about two siblings (older brother and younger sister) who are arguing about their game characters.
What I learnt in the 1st week:
1. Exposure
So we tried using the camera and learning how to operate the exposure, iso, and aperture by focusing on one object (yesterday the object was a blue water bottle). We were in group of three and it was really interesting because not all of us are experienced already with photography so we were learning with one another. Our tutor also taught us how to organize the tripod by paying attention to a small bubble somewhere in the tripod to know that it is the center or not and hot put the camera on top of it. At first it was quite difficult as we are not used to it, but after several times trying (even though most of them failed) we finally understood! Yay! Sometimes the exposure was too little which caused the photo became so dark. We also learnt about the general stop motion set up, I think I still need to learn a lot more haha...
2. Stop Motion Styles
The most common and popular stop motion is claymation, which we use wireframe to build and mold the character, or even the props. The second one is cutout animation which the assets are drawn and cut out then each piece is moved frame by frame. And there are more of them such as sandanimation and silhouette animation which is quite popular in Got Talent shows.
