French New Wave or often called Noevelle Vague is a blanket term invented for a group of French filmmakers in the late 1950s. Most of the films showed the realism of Paris Streets which is influenced by Italian neorealsim. \

Film making has always been expensive and thats the reason why it needs backing from a studio. Slowly, film's equipment and props are getting cheaper and cheaper which at 1956 a film by Roger Vadim (And God Created Woman) was considered as the first New Wave in film history with a low budget.

New Wave Styles:
    a. Shot on location using portable equipment with small crew
    b. At first is being shot silently and dubbed later on 
    c. Have open ended narrative
    d. Extended shots and Handheld footage
    e. Scenes unrehearsed
    f. Natural lighting
    g. Scenes jump to and from different points in time
    h. The use of freeze frame

1. Francois Truffaut

He is a French film director, screenwriter, producer, actor, and film critic (one of the founders of the French New Wave).
Style : Zoom shots and wavy editing
Born: 6th February 1932, Paris, France
Died: 21st October 1984, France
His Films: The 400 Blows (1959), Shoot the Piano Player (1960), Jules and Jim (1962) 

2. Jean-Luc Godard

Jean is a French-Swiss film director, screenwriter and film critic. 
Style : handheld camera work and jerky editing
Born : 3rd December 1930, Paris, France
His films : Breathless (1959), A Woman is a Woman (1961)
